A Riveting Cold-Case Mystery from Dee Henderson
Evie Blackwell loves her life as an Illinois State Police Detective . . . mostly. She’s very skilled at investigations and has steadily moved up through the ranks. She would like to find Mr. Right, but she has a hard time imagining how marriage could work, considering the demands of her job.
Gabriel Thane is a lifetime resident of Carin County and now its sheriff, a job he loves. Gabe is committed to upholding the law and cares deeply for the residents he’s sworn to protect. He too would like to find a lifetime companion, a marriage like his parents have.
When Evie arrives in Carin, Illinois, it’s to help launch a new task force dedicated to reexamining unsolved crimes across the state. Spearheading this trial run, Evie will work with the sheriff’s department on a couple of its most troubling missing-persons cases. As she reexamines old evidence to pull out a few tenuous new leads, she unearths a surprising connection . . . possibly to a third cold case. Evie’s determined to solve the cases before she leaves Carin County, and Sheriff Thane, along with his family, will be key to those answers.
I really need to start this off saying, I LOVE DEE HENDERSON! Her books ALWAYS keep me up at night. I just get sucked in and don’t want to put it down, or finish it for that matter….
Evie heads to Carin to take a look through a couple cold cases to maybe get a new idea and solve them for an upcoming cold case team being developed. On her way in she has a little accident and ends up spending her first day and meeting with the sheriff a little dazed and out of it. Don’t worry though, she snaps back and shows her determination and skills.
Ann, Evie and Sheriff Gabriel’s good friend is also in town helping out with these cases and also another friends history. All these cases intertwine and become something so much more than you would ever expect. This book is full of all the suspense we love. Every page has a new twist, a new lead or a new personal development.
I’m trying not to give away details because I will most likely just confuse you and then you will not bother to read Traces of Guilt for yourself. I will tell you that you will NOT be disappointed by it. Dee Henderson is a wonderful author, and this is no different. You will be sucked into these peoples lives and feel like you know them. And… if you have already read anything by Dee Henderson you will know some of these characters and get another look into their lives.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. These thoughts and opinions are all mine.
